I took part in the 6th Greek National Symposium in Crete, in Gournes, in the small grove next to the Hersonissos Town Hall, where I carved a little girl who, climbing on a real tree, places large red wooden hearts. With this sculpture of the girl, I wanted to begin this International Artistic Movement (Gaiocardium) to send an S.O.S. for the protection of the trees in the forests that still remain… The Symposium lasted 5 days — from the tree trunk to the finished sculpture. Art to Protect Forests

Mission

The International Artistic Movement GAIOCARDIUM is dedicated to protecting forests from fires through works that interact with the natural environment without exploiting it. Our mission is to raise awareness and protect these precious ecosystems through art, creating a dialogue between nature and artistic expression for a more sustainable future.

The final work, the sculpture “Cry from the Burned Forest” in reinforced concrete, has been permanently placed in front of the Hersonissos Town Hall in Crete.
